Historically, Calabria has always had the perfect climate for creating wine
and is believed to be where wine was first created. In ancient times,
Calabria was called “Enotria”, the land of wine. The Greeks believed its
lands created the most delicious and treasured wines, including the famous
Cremissa, official wine of the Olympics. These traditions continued through
the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and today are maintained by wine
connoisseurs the world over.

Villa Dante offers students a chance to try wines from all over the world
and to develop a sense of what fits their own singular tastes. Classes cover
wine etiquette (how wine is served, tasting techniques and terms), wine for
your health, vintages, regional and national wines, the relationship between
foods and wines, how wine is bottled and stored, and other related topics.
